Worth Woodsea, home of…

“Nothing but damned trees and rocks.” Charlotte says angrily. The two have been wandering around the area for a short time, both unamused by the trees and rocks around them. There seemed to be little to no civilization here, only tress for miles on end.

“Kazuma, you are an idiot. Why did you make me come with you for this?”

“Make you come with me? You decided to come on your own, you ugly little troll.”

The two began to trade insults at one another for a good time before Kazuma got the idea to search in the air. It wouldn’t be much but it would provide some answers. With a huff, Charlotte activated his Aera magic. Large, elegant angel wings sprouted from his back as he lifted up high into the air. Kazuma sought it best to keep a watchful eye on him, in the event he decided to take off and leave him stranded. It wasn’t long before Charlotte gracefully glided back down, landing on Kazuma’s head.

“Well dumbass, we are in luck. There is a house not that far from here. Since it’s the only one that I see for miles, it may be the house of the person who offered this stupid job.”

Kazuma shot back with an insult and two of them walked towards the house in the distance, Charlotte giving directions along the way. Two hours passed and night began to fall, the two of them still wandering in the dark.

“You’re shit at directions, you know that?”

“Can it! I thought it was closer.”

Kazuma muttered to himself as he continued walking forward, eventually finding a light in the distance. He hoped that this would be the place they sought, he needed to get a bath.  His pace quicken, he tuned out his Exceed companion and hurried to the area. What sat before them was a small but quaint cabin the woods. A man sat out in front on the porch, putting the lights up to prepare for the coming darkness. He turned to go inside and saw Kazuma and Charlotte walking towards him, a smile coming on his face.

“Are you two from that Pegasus Guild? I was told that someone would be coming to help me out.”

A sigh of relief came over both of their faces as they nodded in agreement and asked to be let in. The man, who was known as Smitty, was very grateful, allowing the two access to his bathroom and spare bed for the night. They’d go over the details of the mission in the morning. Rest was needed.

Seriously? A Turkey? Empty Re: Seriously? A Turkey?

It was early in the morning, the sun was shining on all the forest had to offer. The fisherman and his wife were up at the crack of dawn, readying themselves for the day. Unfortunately, so were Kazuma and Charlotte. The two of them loved to sleep in, the more beauty rest the better. The fisherman had other plans, this was the long awaited day. The day that the legend would be captured. Begrudgingly, the two Blue Pegasus members made their way to the dining area where the Fisherman give them the rundown of the mission.  His anniversary to his wife was rapidly approaching and the fisherman wanted something special done. His wife grew tired of all the fish they ate and longed for something more. As hard as he tried, he could never find anything; that was until he saw it. A creature so large that he had to capture it and perhaps cook it. However, the fisherman was no fool. With zero magic powers, he’d easily be bested by this foe. That, unfortunately, was where Kazuma came in. Both he and Charlotte attempted to prod the man for information about the creature they’d eventually have to fight but got little to nothing in response. The man was tight lipped, wanting it to be a surprise for all. The most information he’d give was its whereabouts. Annoyed, the two left to complete the job. A few hours journey was all it took for them to arrive at a cave in the deepest part of the forest. This is where the beast lay hidden.

“How disgusting!” Kazuma revolted. He had grown tired of things hiding out in such dark areas where he would have to go and find them. He preferred it if they came to him and just stood there. Less work and he could look stunning while doing it.

“You go in. I’ll wait here” Charlotte said, his back turned to the cave.

“The hell I will. You go in and I’ll wait.”

The two of them began to bicker, louder and louder their voices increased. Neither was willing to enter the cave. During their spat, they both failed to notice the booming footsteps that approached. Each boom got louder and closer, a dark figure in the cave looming ahead. The booming stopped, the figure fully emerged from the cave, and its head cocked to the side as it stared at the two before it who disturbed its rest. A large gobbling sound from the creature stopped the argument dead in its tracks as they both turned to look at the creature before them.

“The fuck is that?!” they screamed in unison as the creature lowered its head in an attempt to attack them. On instinct, Charlotte latched on to Kazuma’s back and activated his Aera magic, lifting the two high into the sky. The creature attempted to peak at them with its sharp beak, narrowly missing them. They knew it wasn’t much time for talking, they had to take action. Thankfully, their teamwork was still top-notch. A simple nod was all that was needed, a plan was in motion. Charlotte flew higher into the sky, using his surprising strength to launch Kazuma upward. Before Kazuma began to descend, Charlotte raced downward and began circling around the beast’s head, distracting it for the moment. The rest was up to Kazuma, he knew exactly what needed to be done. His skin began to turn dark and scaly, his nails sharpening and teeth elongating.

“Earth Dragon’s Scales”, he whispers.

It’d have to be quick, precision was a necessity. Shifting all his weight forward and using the momentum of the fall to his advantage, Kazuma extends his feet outward, connecting with a powerful slam to the creature’s head. It belts out a pained roar as it collapsed to the ground, Kazuma decided to not let up. As soon as his feet touches the ground, he lifts his hand forward, a hammer is formed from the ground as he clutches it tightly.

“Earth Dragon’s Hammer!”

He swings the hammer down with all his might, boosted by that of his scales, ending the life of the creature with one fell swoop. Taking a deep breath, he fall backward to the ground, the scales and hammer crumbling to dust. He was worn out, using the limits of his power in one go. Had Charlotte not been there, he knew that he probably would not have been victorious. The distraction was necessary, the momentary second of being caught off guard did its trick. He closes his eyes for a minute, only to open them upon feeling Charlotte land on his chest.

“Your magic is ugly as shit. You know that right?”

He was too tired to argue, too worn out to fight back with a nasty rebuttal. So for the moment, he let him have this one victory. After he regained some of his energy back, he and Charlotte combined their efforts and drug the dead carcass back to the fisherman for him and his wife to see. Upon looking at the marvelous sight, they were elated. No longer would they have to eat fish. This would last them the rest of the year and then some. They graciously paid the two for their efforts and invited them to feast upon the meal they would soon have. Kazuma, grown tired of this place, decided to leave instead, convincing Charlotte to use his Aera magic to take them home. Departing from the Godforsaken forest, the two begin to talk.

“I was hungry. Why the hell didn’t we eat? Free food, even if made be disgusting creatures is good food.”

“Think for a minute Charlotte. They have a near infinite supply of fish and yet she decided to “eat something else”. How long do you think it will take for her to grow tired of that? Better yet, who do you think they’d try and make hunt something else for them to eat?”

Charlotte thought for a minute, annoyed that he didn’t come to that conclusion as well. There was no way he was about to fight, or even deal with another ghastly abomination like that one. It didn’t matter if he was in a Guild, he wasn’t going to do that.

“Man, fuck that.”
